About Color change up...from maroon and gold, to gray/green and gold! | Interior Collection

 

Hey guys, I've been busy with Design Consultations and Color Consultations this past month and I'm noticing a problem many of my clients are having.  They're tired of the wall colors in their homes and don't know how to change things up, without having to paint the entire house (which can be very costly).  And the two colors I'm seeing a lot of are gold and deep maroon!  Yup, this color combination evidently was very popular back in the late nineties and early 2000.  

Well here's my advice if you don't want to paint your entire house...keep the gold, but switch out the maroon with cool blue/green grays that still coordinate nicely with gold.  In fact, I think these colors look beautiful together because the gold is warm and the gray is cool, balancing one another.

A recent client has the main portion of her entryway, hallway and family room painted gold - similar to this color below in the board.  Then in her kitchen which flows right into the family room she painted an accent wall a deep maroon, making the space feel dark and dated with too many warm tones.  So we did a color change up by simply switching out the maroon wall, and maroon/gold art and pillows with cooler colors in gray greens, blues and cream.  Here's a Design Board I whipped up...

I am loving this color combination!  The green/gray is Sherwin Williams' Oyster Bay and balances nicely with the client's existing gold walls.  Then of course I removed all the maroon/gold pillows and art, and incorporated new accessories in soft hues of blues, grays and creams giving the space a light and airy feel.

Okay if your home's color scheme is feeling dark and dated.  Consider a simple color change up!  By painting an accent wall and purchasing a few new accessories in the same color family, you can change the look and feel of any space.
